The Frame Finder

About us

Two working photographers, one honest camera advisor.

The Frame Finder is an independent camera recommendation tool built by two working Norwegian photographers β€” Halvor Barndon (sports) and Philip Isaksen (real estate & marine). We match people to the right camera + lens kit based on how they actually shoot β€” not brand loyalty, not sponsored rankings.

The problem we're solving

Most camera review sites bury the actual recommendation under 4,000 words of technical jargon β€” only to end with β€œit depends.” Gear comparison videos are often sponsored. Best-of lists prioritize what's new over what's actually best for you.

Most people buying a camera don't want to become camera experts. They want to know: what should I buy for my budget and the way I shoot? That's what we answer β€” in 60 seconds.

How we score cameras

Every camera in our database is scored across seven dimensions: beginner-friendliness, travel, portrait, wildlife, sports, video, and value for money. Scores reflect a combination of spec analysis, trusted review aggregation, and real-world use patterns.

We reference reviews from DPReview, The Camera Store, and a small group of working photographers whose judgment we trust. We don't accept payments to improve a camera's ranking.

Scores and prices are reviewed regularly. Each camera entry shows an updated_at date. If you spot something out of date, let us know.
